CHILD & YOUTH COUNSELLING
IN-CLINIC
SUPPORTING LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
Robbie provides in-clinic counselling sessions for children and young people aged 6 to 17. The sessions offer a supportive, accessible space where young people can talk about what’s happening for them, make sense of their feelings, and work through concerns at their own pace. The approach is intentionally child-friendly and engaging. Young people might use the sessions to explore worries, manage school-related stress, navigate friendship difficulties, or adjust to changes at home. And sometimes, simply having a safe place to talk can make a real difference. The session format helps conversations stay focused and manageable, while still allowing enough time to build trust, provide guidance, and work towards practical strategies. Robbie uses age-appropriate language and activities to support the development of resilience, problem-solving skills, emotional awareness, and confidence. But the aim isn't to overwhelm young people with information or strategies; instead, support is tailored to their developmental level and individual needs. Where appropriate, parents are also included through feedback and shared strategies. This helps connect what happens in the session with everyday life, so that the support can continue at home and within familiar routines. It can be a collaborative approach that gives young people space to develop their own skills while ensuring parents have practical ways to reinforce progress.
NB: Counselling therapy may not be appropriate for all young people. This can be discussed. Initial parent session required.

PARENT SUPPORT & ADVOCACY
Counselling for parents provides a dedicated, supportive space to explore the challenges that can arise as children grow and move through school. Parenting a child with learning difficulties, developmental delays, disabilities, or concerns around behaviour, motivation, or wellbeing can feel overwhelming at times. Counselling offers an opportunity to reflect on these experiences, better understand your child’s needs, and consider how these challenges may be impacting you as a caregiver.
Through counselling, parents can develop practical strategies to support their child’s learning and emotional wellbeing at home, while also strengthening communication and collaboration with schools and other supports. It can help you navigate complex systems, make sense of assessments or recommendations, and feel more confident in advocating for your child.
Counselling also focuses on your own wellbeing as a parent. Caring for a child with additional needs or ongoing challenges can bring stress, uncertainty, and emotional fatigue. Having a confidential space to talk, process, and build coping strategies can support resilience, balance, and a greater sense of confidence.
By combining emotional support with practical guidance, counselling empowers parents to feel more informed, supported, and capable—helping you create a positive, responsive environment where your child can thrive, while also maintaining your own wellbeing.

PERSONAL COUNSELLING
At the heart of my practice is a simple belief: therapy is about connection. It’s about having a space where you can be yourself, feel heard, and know that your experiences are being taken seriously. Whether you’re working through a personal challenge, adjusting to a major life change, or simply trying to make sense of where things are heading, I want our work together to feel genuine, respectful, and useful. I bring warmth, authenticity, and a practical understanding of life to counselling. Your values, strengths, relationships, experiences, and circumstances all matter. Rather than taking a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach or concentrating solely on symptoms, we’ll explore what’s happening for you and what meaningful change might look like. And sometimes the path forward isn't neat or straightforward. That’s okay.
The counselling space I offer adults is relaxed and conversational. It’s not about being assessed, judged, or told what you should do. Instead, it’s a place where you can slow things down, talk openly, and explore the things that matter to you. My role is to walk alongside you, offering genuine care, practical support, and a steady perspective while you work out what feels right for you. Our work is collaborative and shaped around your individual circumstances and goals. We’ll consider not only what’s happening internally, but also the relationships, environments, expectations, and wider systems that may be influencing your wellbeing. Your background and values remain central to the process, as does your own definition of success.
